What do you think about at Pink Marketing? A pink marketing strategy? No, unfortunately that's wrong. It is a company that makes advertisements for XS4ALL, Netflix and BCC. Bart Leeffers came to speak on behalf of Pink Marketing about display marketing on Wednesday 13 November. But what it exactly is and what it all contains can be read in the following sections.
 
What is display marketing? 
Display marketing is an online marketing tool. The advertising made by different companies, for example by Pink Marketing, can be seen on websites that are visited by your target group. Because this advertising is made especially for your target group, this is defined marketing. This advertising can be seen as image ads and/or video ads. This form of marketing is used to create greater brand awareness, to reach new visitors and to generate sales or leads.
 
How do you apply display marketing?
This form of advertising is used a lot. You always see it on websites, just think about it on every news site and clothing site. Because without that advertising, there is no free news, Google maps and YouTube. Much of our content is free, because there is a lot to be found on it. It's also used a lot on Black Friday, for example. We get thrown to death with advertisements about how much discount we do get. This form of advertising has been used for a long time. It started in newspapers, then TV, then online newspapers, then more and more segmented websites in, for example, news and football. But more and more advertisements are also being used on video platforms such as YouTube and RTLXL. What is important to keep in mind is that there is a balance between advertisements and the content of the website itself. Many websites are full of advertisements and only a small amount of news, such as Nu.nl.
 
What does the future look like?
In the future, more people want to have good quality news, so people are going to pay for news. Then fewer people will sit on Nu.nl, but more on Financieel Dagblad or De Volkskrant. However, the advertiser must think carefully about which content suits the target group he wants to appeal to, because that remains the starting point.
