Newsletter April
Dear members,
April absolutely flew by. It was a wonderful month filled with sunshine, gezelligheid, and unforgettable memories. In this newsletter, we’re looking back on a successful month full of amazing stories from our international trip.
At the same time, we’re already looking ahead to May, because the upcoming month has a lot in store for us! So grab your favorite snack, join us for a drink, and enjoy this look back and preview of two fantastic months together.
April was a relatively calm month for the association, but we hope all of you made the most of it with all the fun holidays and celebrations. Of course, we also wanted to give our members some well-deserved rest, because everyone had to prepare for the international trip to… Sofia, Bulgaria.
Before the festivities truly began, we hosted an amazing gala on April 22 with the theme Mystical Garden. And on April 23, we had another incredibly fun monthly drink together with the lovely association Ad Legem. In other words: a huge week full of celebrations, and we enjoyed every second of it!
These two days were definitely the perfect warm-up for the best day of the year… King’s Day! We hope all of you had an amazing time celebrating. Luckily, the board gave everyone one final day of rest before it was time to pack our bags and leave for beautiful Sofia on April 29.
The international trip was a week we will never forget. On April 29, we traveled by public transport to Eindhoven before flying to Sofia. Thankfully, everything went smoothly during the journey, and around 8 PM we arrived at the hostel. After an evening full of fun and hilarious moments, everyone prepared themselves for a very rainy first day… Yes, the weather was not exactly on our side, but that certainly did not ruin the fun. After visiting the Rakia Museum, everyone’s spirits were high again, and we ended the day with a lovely group dinner.
On Friday, the weather improved a little, and we visited the Dutch Embassy in Sofia. We received a warm welcome with drinks and snacks, and our members were given a full explanation of how the embassy works. We kicked off the evening with a fun bingo game before heading into our first big night out.
Saturday was a special day because… Emma’s birthday had arrived! The weather was amazing, and we started the day with a beautiful city tour. After enjoying some free time in the afternoon, we spent the evening bowling and laser gaming together. On Sunday, everyone got to sleep in, because we didn’t have to gather until noon. In the afternoon, we played an amazing Crazy 67 filled with hilarious challenges, and in the evening we all attended a football match together.
Monday was already our final day in Sofia… In the morning, we visited the university and received a guided tour. Later that afternoon, we visited a beautiful brewery where we were able to taste different beers and learn all about the brewing process. Afterward, we ended the week perfectly with a lovely group dinner. Then, on Tuesday morning, it was finally time: checking out at 11 AM and heading to the airport.
Without a doubt, it was a successful trip we will never forget!
Now that we’ve fully caught up on April, it’s time to look ahead to the future. Since we’re not ready to let go of all this gezelligheid just yet, we have a lot planned for May!
We started the month on May 12 with a fun company visit to Grolsch. On May 20, we have an exciting pub lecture planned at Harvest Digital — definitely not one to miss! Of course, we’ll also have our monthly drink on May 21, followed by a fun English-themed activity on May 22.
And of course, from May 26 until May 30, the best week of the past five years will finally take place: our lustrum week with the theme Unlimited! We have an incredible lineup planned, including an opening party in a party bus, comedy night, wakeboarding, a beer cantus, padel, silent disco bingo, an alumni board dinner, and of course a fantastic closing party at Wolter Wolthers. SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN VIA THE DUTCH WEBSITE. BE QUICK, BECAUSE FULL = FULL!
We are beyond excited, and we hope you are too!
Love,
The 35th Board of HMV Actis
