Newsletter May

Dear Members,

May flew by in no time. It was a wonderful month filled with sunshine, great memories, and the true start of summer. In this newsletter, we look back on a successful month full of amazing activities and, of course, our unforgettable Lustrum.

We will also take a look ahead to June. While the coming month will be a little quieter, it certainly won't be any less enjoyable. So grab your favorite snack or drink and join us as we look back on one fantastic month and look ahead to another.

After returning from our international trip, we took some time to recover, but on May 12th we kicked off the month with an incredible company visit to Grolsch. Here, we gained insight into the brewing process and everything that goes into making Grolsch beer. Afterwards, we had the opportunity to taste several unique beers and even received a beautiful beer glass to take home. It was definitely a successful day.

A week later, we visited Harvest Digital, a marketing agency specialized in various fields. We attended a presentation by Redmer and Charlotte, both former Actis members. We exchanged experiences, learned new things, and enjoyed a delicious beer and wine tasting while doing so. After completing an interactive assignment about a campaign for a travel agency, we ended the evening with drinks. Some of us nearly decided to stay for the next morning's meeting. In short, it was a fantastic evening.

Of course, we also hosted our monthly drinks event, where we got a first taste of the Lustrum with the theme "Boundless." It was the perfect preview of the amazing week that was about to begin.

On May 26th, the moment finally arrived: the start of the most special week that HMV Actis celebrates every five years. The Lustrum, this time with the theme Boundless. And boundless it certainly was.

We kicked off the week with an unforgettable opening party on a party bus. Nobody really knew what to expect, but it exceeded every expectation. Everyone who attended will never forget it, and neither will the rest of us, because we still can't stop talking about how incredible it was.

Day two gave everyone a chance to recover from the wonderfully chaotic opening party, as there was no afternoon program planned. But don't worry, the evening featured a hilarious Comedy Night, and we laughed until our stomachs hurt. Let's just say our abs got a proper workout.

On day three, we were blessed with beautiful weather, which made it the perfect day for wakeboarding. It turns out we have some real talents among us. Several members started on the water skis and quickly progressed to wakeboards. Of course, there were also a few people who looked like they were auditioning for a blooper reel. Let's just say some extra practice wouldn't hurt. Afterwards, everyone went home to relax and prepare for the beer cantus. We can summarize that evening in three words: CHAOS, FRIENDSHIP, AND A LOT OF BEER. From a Mario Kart ad to a Jesus ad, we saw it all and sang our hearts out. An absolute success.

You might think our members would have run out of energy by then, but absolutely not. Day four was just as packed. We started with a padel tournament, which is always a great idea after a cantus. Our competitive members gave it their all. In the evening, we headed to a Silent Disco Bingo. There were great songs, questionable singing performances, and plenty of unforgettable moments. Joep walked away with a gift voucher, Noor won a lovely wine package, and Sven proudly claimed victory with a bucket of Angry Birds-themed prizes.

Then, before we knew it, the final day had arrived. A week we will never forget was coming to an end. We kept the afternoon relaxed before gathering for a wonderful Former Boards Dinner. It was great to see everyone again, exchange experiences, and reflect on the unique year that each board spends together. In the evening, we wrapped up the Lustrum with our members at Wolter Wolthers. The nominations ceremony began, people somehow managed to fit far too many friends into far too little space, and together we truly raised the roof.

This week is one we will never forget. If you would like to relive the memories, you can find all the photos on our website.

On behalf of the board, we would also like to thank the Lustrum Committee for organizing such an incredible week. We truly appreciate all the hard work and dedication that went into making it such a success.

Now that we've fully caught up on everything that happened in May, it's time to look ahead. Since we're not quite ready to let go of all this fun, we've planned a few more great activities for June.

We will start the month with a boat trip on June 11th. Then, on June 15th, we will hold our General Members' Meeting (GMM), where we will discuss the past six months and announce the candidate board. This is a dutch spoken event.

On June 18th, we will first enjoy a Thursday Drinks event, followed by a fun evening of pool. Finally, we will close the month with our Monthly Drinks Event on June 25th.

In short, another month filled with great memories, fun activities, and plenty of opportunities to spend time together. We are incredibly excited and hope to see all of you there.

With love,

The 35th Board of HMV Actis
